Second Annual Austin Chicken Wing Festival

The Second Annual Austin Chicken Wing Festival took place on May 20, 2018, on the grounds of the Escoffier School of Culinary Arts.

Austinites love food festivals, and chicken wings are definitely no exception, so a little rain storm wasn't going to damped the spirits of 1,800 culinary fans as they devoured 15,000 chicken wings.

Chicken wings can come in many different shapes and flavors. All are YUMMY!  Nearly 20 vendors showed off their wings for this competition.

A panel of judges sampled all of the varieties of wings and and wing inspired dishes, and the winners are:

Best Wing Judge's Choice:
Wingzup Bar and Grill

Best Inspired Dish Judge's Choice:
Tso Chinese Delivery

Festival goers were also given the choice to pick their favorites.

Best Wing People's Choice:
Cover-3

Best Inspired Dish People's Choice:
Tso Chinese Delivery

No chicken wing festival is complete without a a group of contestants vying to see how many of the little spicy treats they can devour. This brave group of men took on the challenge. Somebody had to do it.

This year's winner was native Austinite Greg Lesson.

Despite a little rain, the Second Annual Chicken Wing Festival was a great success. And it looks like Austinites will be ready for more fun and wings again next spring.
