Covering the Limelight in ATX

Legendary Motown superstar, Lionel Richie, was in town on October 24, 2015, for a special performance at Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater. The concert was held in conjunction with Austin Formula One race weekend festivities. Richie is a music icon. He has sold over 100 million albums world-wide. He has earned an Oscar, 5 Grammy Awards, 16 American Music Awards, 5 People's Choice Awards, and a Golden Globe award, to name some of his accomplishments. Lionel Richie started his storied career in 1968 as part of the musical group The Commodores. Since that time he has composed countless numbers of songs including many hits for himself and other artists. Richie has collaborated with many artists over the years, including the world-renowned 1985 charity single We Are The World , which Richie co-wrote with Michael Jackson. There's a new venue in town, and it came on the scene with a ROAR. This roar can be contributed to several things. Welcome to Austin's newest event venue, know to locals as COTA. First, the engines of Formula 1 race cars zooming around the new Circuit of the Americas race track which opened last November in Elroy, just outside of Austin, Texas. COTA's 3.4 mile circuit track is home to the United States Grad Prix and will feature several other national and international races including V8 Supercars, Grand Am and Le Mans.
