2018 Willie Nelson 4th of July Picnic

The 2018 version of Willie Nelson's 4th of July picnic took place on the grounds of the Circuit of the Americas just outside of Austin on July 4, 2018, of course.  Willie and family, and a few of their friends, got together for a nice big party which included music, food, drinks, sunshine, and one uninvited guest - a thunderstorm. Limelight Imaging was on hand to capture the event for Austin 360/Austin American Statesman A- List.  Here's the way the day unfolded. Sturgill Simpson, a rising star in country music, stopped by Austin City Limits Live at the Moody for a two shows on May 5 and 6, 2016. Sturgill Simpson Sturgill Simpson and band Simpson chose Austin to begin his new tour in support of his third full-length album,  A Sailors Guide To Earth,  which was released April 15. The album was written in honor of his first child born in 2014. Real Country Rocks Stubb's in ATX

Rising country star, singer-songwriter Sturgill Simpson stopped by the Stubb's BBQ Waller Creek Amphitheater in Austin, Texas on April 2, 2015 to perform for an enthusiastic sell-out crowd. Sturgill is on tour in support of his 2014 sophomore album, "Metamodern Sounds in Country Music," which was nominated for a Grammy in the Americana Album of the Year category. Sturgill and his album also received honors for best album, best songwriter, and best male vocalist by the Nashville Scene's Country Music Critic's Poll . With a sound reminiscent of country outlaw greats Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard, the Kentucky-born Simpson thrilled the crowd with his own "real country" music as well as classic covers from lesser-known country greats.
