Help Clifford Help Kids



The Clifford Antone Foundation and IBC Bank presented the 2018 edition of Help Clifford Help Kids benefiting American YouthWorks on November 8, 2018, at Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater. The program featured an auction, dinner, awards ceremony, and special musical entertainment headlined by blues legend Jimmie Vaughan.




The Clifford Antone Foundation is an Austin non-profit dedicated to honoring Austin's past music culture by caring for our elders and investing in the future by helping the youth. The foundation continues to honor the legacy of its name sake, Austin blues club legend, Clifford Antone.


American YouthWorks is an Austin-based non-profit focused on building brighter futures and stronger communities through education, career training, and service to others.

The 2018 Robin Shivers Award For Exceptional Integrity, Generosity, and Philanthropy was presented to a vocal advocated for American YouthWorks and Help Clifford Help Kids Co-Chair, Olga Campos Benz.

The 2018 Cliffy Award For Outstanding Philanthropic Legacy was awarded to the family of Creed Lamar Ford III in his memory. Ford, whose life passion was helping others, was the Co-Chair of Help Clifford Help Kids. Mr. Ford passed away in July of this year.

The musical performances for the evening were provided by the Jimmie Vaughan Trio with Mike Flanigan and George Rains, and the Texas Horns, and featured special guest Delbert McClinton plus Jai Malano and Soul Man Sam. The evening also included a special appearance by Booker T Jones. Booker T Jones.


Jimmie Vaughan


Jimmie Vaughan is a blues rock guitarist and singer. While he is a great guitarist is his own right, he is slao known as the older brother of the late Texas blues legend Stevie Ray Vaughan. Jimmie Vaughan has been awarded 4 Grammy Awards including 2 for performing with his brother, 1 for a tribute album for his brother, and his most recent in 2001 for traditional Blues Album for his solo venture Do You Get The Blues?.

The Texas Horns are a blues trio who perform as a group and also accompany many Austin area musicians. The members are Austinites Mark Kazanoff and John Mills on saxophones and San Antonian Al Gomez on trumpet.

Jai Malano is a blues singer, songwriter hailing from Austin.

Soul Man Sam Evans is a R&B/blues singer originally from Memphis. He is now a regular at Antone's with his SMS Band. They were awarded the 2018 Austin Bles Society Award for Best Band.

Delbert McClinton is a Grammy Award-winning blues rock and electric blues singer-songwriter, guitarist, harmonica player, and pianist. McClinton has released 28 studio albums since 1972 including Pick of the Litter in 2017.

Booker T Jones is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, record producer and arranger, and is the frontman for the band Booker T. & the M.G.'s. Mr. Jones has earned 4 Grammy Awards including the Recording Academy Lifetime Achievement Award presented in 2007.
