The Nashville-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist released his seventh album, Magic, in June 2018. In 2006, while a student at the University of Arkansas, Rector became the youngest person to win the Grand Prize in the Pop category of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest for the song Conversation which was part of his self-published EP. Rector's third album, Into The Morning, reached number 11 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. Rector's 2018 release, Magic, reached number 1 on Billboard's Americana/Folk albums chart.
