Once again the weather was perfect as music
fans filled the Great Lawn of Zilker Park in Austin, Texas for weekend two of the 15th annual Austin City Limits Music Fest. October 7, 8 and 9 of ACL Fest brought out thousands of music fans to see even more great musical acts, in addition to some of the previous weeks greats.

While the music was the star of the weekend, festival-goers were also treated to some of the great culinary favorites found in Austin like Amy's Ice Cream, Austin's Pizza, Chi'Lantro BBQ, Torchy's Tacos, The Salt Lick BBQ, and P. Terry's Burger Stand, to name a few. If fans were feeling a little parched, they could revive with the likes of High Brew Coffee, Shade Tree Organic Lemonade, GoodPop Popsicles, Maine Root Beverages, Tito's Handmade Vodka, and Juiceland. Of course, there was also an abundance of the favorite cold beverage of many music lovers, 17 different craft beers, including Real Ale Firemans #4.

Once again our first stop on the festival grounds was for the performance by "The Kings of Western Swing," Ray Benson and Asleep at the Wheel.

Along with Ray Benson, the members of Asleep At The Wheel include Dave Sanger on drums, Dave Miller on bass, Eddie Rivers on steel guitar, Connor Forsyth on piano, Jay Reynolds on sax and clarinet, Dennis Ludiker on fiddle and mandolin and Katie Shore on Fiddle.

AWOLNATION
While ACL Fest always has a great line-up of new bands for the crowd to discover, they also have some fan favorites like alternative rock band AWOLNATION. They've sold over 5,000,000 copies of their first hit, "Sail." AWOLNATION released a new EP, "Run," in September 2016.

Another fan favorite of the weekend was Band of Horses. The American rock band has released 5 studio albums including 2010's Grammy-nominated "Infinite Arms." Their most recent released "Why Are You Ok" was released in June 2016.

It was a beautiful day for a music festival in Austin as the gates opened for day 2 of the second weekend of ACL Fest. Our first stop on this day was at the always family friendly Austin Kiddie Limits Stage.

Nakia and the Barton Hills Elementary Choir
Saturday's first stop was for a special performance by an Austin favorite, blues and soul singer-songwriter, actor, Nakia. While coming into national prominence during season 1 of NBC's hit singing competition
The Voice, Nakia has been entertaining Austin audiences since his arrival in 2002.

Nakia appeared with the acclaimed Barton Hills Elementary Choir. Barton Hills Elementary is nestled in the hills of the Barton Hills neighborhood adjacent to Zilker Park. The elementary school choir, made up of 3rd through 6th grade students, has appeared at the ACL Fest since 2009. The choir is lead by the school's music teacher Gavin Tabone. Joining Nakia and the students on stage were local musicians Jake Perlman on drums, Jason Brint on bass, and Don Cento on guitar. Gavin Tabone joined on piano in addition to directing the choir.

Closing out the festival was the highly anticipated performance by the Grammy Award-winning Alternative Rock band from London, England, Mumford and Sons. After three very successful albums, Mumford released their EP,
Johannesburg, in June 2016.

Mumford and Sons consists of lead vocalist Marcus Mumford, keyboardist Ben Lovett, guitarist/banjo player Winston Marshall, and bassist Ted Dwane. Joining them on tour is drummer Chris Maas, fiddle player Tom Hobden, trumpeter Nick Etwell, and trombonist Dave Williamson.

And with that performance, another successful year of the Austin City Limits Music Festival came to an end. Once again attendees were treated to tons of awesome music provided by both veteran acts and newcomers.
