Every two years since there inception in 2001, the Texas Medal of Arts Awards have spotlighted Texas leaders and luminaries who have achieved greatness through their creative talents or opened doors to artistic opportunities for all Texans. This year's ceremony took place on February 25, 2015 at The Long Center For The Performing Arts in Austin.
This year the Texas Cultural Trust honored television/news personality Dan Rather, music legend T Bone Burnett, film superstar Jamie Foxx, television star Chandra Wilson, award-winning author of film, theater and television Robert Schenkkan, author, screenwriter and playwright Lawrence Wright, architect Charles Renfro, artist Rick Lowe, Spanish-language television pioneer Emilio Nicolas, famed dance team The Kilgore College Rangerettes, and civic leader, philanthropist and patron of the arts Margaret McDermott. Also recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award were the legendary country music trio, The Gatlin Brothers.
