St. Vincent was fronted by Dallas-raised art-rock musician, singer, songwriter, actress, and producer Annie Clark. Annie was joined on stage by the Down and Out Downtown Band. The band's members include Justin Meddal-Johnsen on bass, Jason Falkner on guitar, Rachel Eckroth on keys, and Mark Guiliana on drums. Also joining St. Vincent on stage were backup singers Nayanna Holley, Stevvi Alexander, and Danielle Withers and roadie, dancer, and "stunt double" Ariana Henry.

Having earned Grammy awards in both 2015 for Best Alternative Music Album for St Vincent and in 2019 for Best Rock Song for Masseduction, St. Vincent is now touring in support of her sixth solo album, Daddy's Home, which was released this year. The timing of the latest album release coincided with the release of Clark's father from prison, where he had been incarcerated since 2010.

St. Vincent's ACL Taping setlist was a wonderful mix of both old and new material. And with six albums filled with innovative and intriguing music to chose from, Clark had no problem filling her one hour and 15 minute show with audience pleasing songs.

The show began with a trench-coat donning double (Ariana Henry) pretending to be Clark. But most fans weren't fooled and St. Vincent soon joined her band for sixteen tracks.

During some songs, St. Vincent exchanged rock licks with guitarist Jason Falkner while other times she appeared to be dueling with bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen. Having such accomplished musicians in her band made for excellent, powerful exchanges between all.

At one point, Ariana Henry appeared again, this time in a waitress costume, serving up drinks to the band. Clark took this opportunity to give a toast..."To Austin City Limits and our third time here, and to all of us being back together again." Henry was seen frequently on stage as she acted as a roadie for Clark, changing out guitars for many songs and joining the band on stage as a dancer. Clark has her guitars custom made for her in different colors and changes them out for the different moods of each song.

The backup singers/dancers added a nice touch to each track. On "Sugarboy", the ladies waved bars of light as they danced across the stage. For "Live In The Dream," they sauntered around the stage in slow-motion as Clark sang relaxing vocals.
