Also on hand was San Francisco artist, Jason Mecier who was asked by Friskies to create art work featuring their spokescats. Jason used packaging and labels from Friskies Tasty Tresures for some of the pieces and real bacon and dry cat food for the others. The pieces of art work were very creative to say the least. Below is Jason with his creations of Hamilton the Hipster Cat and SamHasEyebrows, who unfortunately were not able to attend the event.
Here's Nala Cat. She wan't exactly thrilled with all of the attention or her platform with a view of the street.
Here are Oskar the Blind Cat (yes, that is his name and yes, he is blind) and his brother Klaus. Oskar seemed to enjoy the smell of bacon wafting through the building more than he cared about all the crazy people taking photos of him. Klaus looked like he wanted to chow down on their bacon and cat food portrait.
This is Waffles. Waffles is a Scottish Fold, hence the folded ears. He was perfectly content just hanging out in his bacon-adorned cat bed and checking out his awesome portrait.
Here is Jason and his Tasty Treasures portrait of Grumpy Cat.
Friskies' visit to Austin during SXSW was not only to introduce the world to Tasty Treasures accented with bacon, but to draw attention to shelter cats as well. By harnessing the power of social media using the hashtag CatDreamsComeTrue, Friskies donated 50,000 cans of Tasty Treasures to shelter cats across the nation.
All the excitement surrounding this event just didn't do much for Grumpy Cat. She was quite content just to ignore everyone and take a nap.
