Covering the Limelight in ATX

The beginning of a new year is always exciting and filled with mixed emotions of the things to come. The New Year offers a new chapter of our lives as well as new challenges to conquer. As 2013 begins, we contemplate the past year and make resolutions to improve the new one ahead. Here at Limelight Imaging we have conjured up some new goals and ideas while hibernating in the cooler months and now that we’re rested up from the exhausting holidays, it’s time to take on 2013! First, our coverage of the local music scene in “The Live Music Capitol of the World,” Austin, Texas, has been off to a slow start this month due to the holidays but now most bands are getting back on the bus and we’re gearing up for a full calendar. On Wednesday, January 2, 2013 Austin’s ACL Live at the Moody Theater was privileged to play host to one of Rock’s legendary performers, Gregg Allman. As a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, the now 65 year old Allman has been touring for as long as most can remember. He is now touring in support of his seventh solo album, Low Country Blues. This is his first album in 13 years. Allman, backed by a band of talented young musicians, played some of his most well-known songs as well as many Allman Brothers classics including “Statesboro Blues,” “Wasted Words,” “Melissa,” and “Midnight Rider.” Allman was joined on stage by his son, Devon, who played guitar on “Dreams.” The audience really appreciated a gorgeous rendition of Jackson Browne’s “These Days” performed by Allman accompanying himself on the acoustic.
