Sturgill Simpson at ACL Live

Sturgill Simpson, a rising star in country music, stopped by Austin City Limits Live at the Moody for a two shows on May 5 and 6, 2016.

Simpson chose Austin to begin his new tour in support of his third full-length album, A Sailors Guide To Earth, which was released April 15. The album was written in honor of his first child born in 2014.

Sturgill was joined on stage by his 7 piece band whose members include Laur Joamets - electric and slide guitar, Chuck Bartels - bass guitar, Bobby Emmett - keyboards, Miles Miller - drums/percussion, Scott Frock - trumpet, Brad Walker - saxophone, and Jon Ramm - trombone.

On this night, Simpson chose to perform a large selection of his music including both his second album, Metamodern Sounds In Country Music, and his third album, A Sailor's Guide To Earth, in their entirety. He also added some selections from his debut album and a new cover.
