SXSW Interactive: AOL BUILD Speaker Series
Austin's famed SXSW started way back in 1987 as a regional music festival, but it isn't just music anymore. The festival has grown over the years into a world renowned event featuring music as well as film, technology and, this year, education.
The AOL BUILD speakers series at RocNation LiveNation Raptor House took over the grounds of Arlyn Studios on March 15. The discussions which covered topics concerning Interactive, Film, and Music were moderated by Ricky Camilleri.
First up, actor Jason Schwartzman discussed his two upcoming projects, The Overnight and 7 Chinese Brothers, both of which premiered at SXSW.
Next we heard from a group of internet talents who discussed Creating A Career: What it's like to be able to reach millions of people with the click of a button. Sitting in for this talk were Moj Mahdara, Meredith Foster (stilababe09), Tyler Oakley, Amanda de Cadenet, and Joe Zee.
Discussions about a new horror movie, The Boy, brought out a slew of Hollywood's best including Elijah Wood, Rainn Wilson and David Morse. The film's young stars, Jared Breeze and Aiden Lovecamp were also there to lend to the discussion.
Fittingly, since SXSW started as a music festival, two up and coming musical acts, Big Sean and Elle King, dropped by to discuss their careers and journeys in the music world.
Combining the worlds of music and documentary film making, Breaking A Monster follows three middle school students as they embark on a career as the metal band "Unlocking The Truth." Director Luke Meyer joined Malcolm Brickhouse, Jarad Dawkins, and Alec Atkins for this discussion.
