2018 Austin City Limits Music Festival - Week Two - Saturday



The 2018 version of the Austin City Limits Music Festival took place on two weekends: October 5 -7 and October 12 - 14, 2018, in beautiful Zilker Park in downtown Austin, Texas.  The festival brought tens of thousands of attendees, 8 stages and over 130 acts to the "Live Music Capital of the World."

Saturday brought temperatures near 90 degrees and humidity levels nearly as high. But the toasty weather wasn't a problem for the thousands of fans ready to see their favorite bands.

Durand Jones and The Indications are a Soul and R&B band who met at Indiana University/ Bloomington, Jacobs School of Music. The band members include Durand Jones (vocals), Blake Rhein (guitar), Aaron Frazer (drums), Kyle Houpt (bass), and Steve Okonski (keys).

The Wombats

The Wombats are an English Indie rock band and frequent visitors to Austin. The band's members are Matthew "Murph" Murphy (vocals, guitar), Tord Overland Knudsen (bass), and Dan Haggis (drums).
The Wombats released their fourth studio album, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, in February 2018.

Highly Suspect

Highly Suspect is a rock trio from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. The band's members are Rich Meyer (bass, backing vocals), Ryan Meter (drums, backing vocals), and Johnny Stevens (guitar, lead vocals). They are currently recording their third studio album.

Trampled By Turtles

Trampled By Turtles is a bluegrass, folk-rock band hailing from Duluth, Minnesota. The band released their eighth studio album, Life Is Good On The Open Road, in May 2018.  Trampled By Turtles members are Dave Simonett (lead vocals, guitar, harmonica), Tim Saxhaug (bass, backing vocals), Dave Carroll (banjo, backing vocals), Erik Berry (mandolin, backing vocals), Ryan Young (fiddle), and Eamonn McLain (cello).

Disturbed

Grammy nominated Disturbed is a heavy metal band formed in 1994 in Chicago. The band is fronted by vocalist David Draiman. Other members of the band include John Moyer (bass), Dan Donegan (guitar, keys) and Mike Wengren (drums). On October 19, 2018, Disturbed released their seventh studio album, Evolution.

Chvrches is a Scottish Synth-pop trio. The groups members are Lauren Mayberry (lead vocals, drums, percussion), Iain Cook (synthesizers, piano, guitar, bass, backing vocals), and Martin Doherty (synthesizers, backing and lead vocals).  Chvrches released their third studio album, Love Is Dead, in May 2018.

Metallica


One of the best known heavy metal bands in the world, Metallica, closed out Saturday night on the American Express stage at the ACL Music Fest. Metallica was formed in 1981 by drummer Lars Ulrich and lead vocalist/guitarist James Hetfield. Other band members include Kirk Hammett (lead guitar, backing vocals) and Robert Trujillo (bass, backing vocals).

Metallica has earned multiple awards over the years including 8 Grammy Awards, 2 American Music Awards, and 5 Billboard Awards as well as many from specific rock and metal groups.  In 2009, Metallica was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Metallica released their 10 studio album, Hardwired...To Self Destruct, in 2016.
