Country Music With Texas Roots At Stubb's

Texas loves country music and country music loves Texas. It's just the way we are. This theme was evident on Friday, September 11, 2015, as Stubb's Waller Creek Amphitheater played host to a trio of Texas good ol' bands. The Cody Johnson and The Rockin' CJBs, Cory Morrow, and Shane Smith and the Saints performed before a packed house of Texas Country Music fanatics.

First up on the evening was Shane Smith and The Saints. Fronted by Shane Smith, who hails from Kaufman County in Northeast Texas, this band's sound is a mixture of country, folk, rock and Americana. Joining Shane on stage are Bennett Brown on fiddle, Tim Allen of guitar, Chase Satterwhite on bass, and Bryan McGrath on drums.

On a day when most of the world, and especially those of us living in the United States, stopped to reflect on the tragic events of 14 years ago when our country was attacked by terrorists, country music did its part to help heal the local wounds. Before his set, Cory Morrow invited First Responders and veterans on stage while he sang a tribute to them. Austin's police chief, Art Acevado was even on hand to help document the action.

A Houston native now residing in Austin, Morrow entertained the crowd with his style of Texas Red Dirt country music. Joining Cory on stage were John Carroll on guitar, Jeff Holm on bass, Clay Corn on keyboard, and Brian Ferguson on drums.

Headlining the ticket and performing for the first time on the outdoor stage at Stubb's  was Cody Johnson and his band, The Rockin' CJB. Cody was born in Huntsville, Texas and formed his first band in 2006 with his dad.
