John Carpenter Brings His Movie Magic To ACL-Live

Legendary science fiction and horror movie director, screenwriter, producer, editor, and composer John Carpenter stopped by Austin City Limits - Live at the Moody theater on June 23, 2016. Carpenter is  touring in support of his latest solo album, Lost Themes II. During his show, Carpenter and his band performed music from his classic film soundtracks as well as selections from both both of his solo albums.






Some of John Carpenter's most recognizable film credits include Halloween, Escape from New York, Starman, Dark Star, Assualt on Precinct 13, The Fog, The Thing, Christine, Big Trouble In Little china, Price of Darkness, and They Live.

Folk Icon Gordon Lightfoot Fills ACL-Live with Sweet Sounds

Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot visited Austin's favorite music mecca, Austin City Limits Live At The Moody Theater on June 21, 2016, as part of his The Legend Lives On 2016 tour.

The legendary folk singer/songwriter has been producing hit after hit for 50 years, so he had plenty of material to please even the most die-hard fan at this show. Gordon touched on many of his hits from his 20 albums as well as some lesser known numbers.

On this night, the five-time Grammy nominated star covered 26 songs including mega hits like "Carefree Highway," "Sundown", "If You Could Read My Mind", and "The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald."

Canadian indie rock band Tokyo Police Club stopped by Emo's in ATX on June 20, 2016. Tokyp Police Club is on tour in support of their latest EP, Melon Collie and the Infinite Radness: Part One, which was released in April.

Austin's Favorite Musical Couple Hit The Stage At ACL-Live

Texas country music's cutest duo, Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis, stopped by ACL- Live at the Moody Theater for a show on June 18, 2016. The popular husband and wife team filled the theater with their blissful harmonies and contagious smiles during their set which they refer to as "The Bruce and Kelly Show."






The Austin audience might have been a little confused about the time of the year with this concert; Robison and Willis annually hold a holiday show here in Austin each year. This mid-June show featured music from the couple's duet albums, "Cheater's Game" and "Our Year."

The Nashville-based, Grammy Award-winning Americana String Band, Old Crow Medicine Show stopped by Stubb's BBQ on June 17, 2016 for a show. The folk band is a member country music's prestigious Grand Ole Opry and is very popular on the Folk and Bluegrass music festival circuit.
