Welcome to Covering The Limelight

The beginning of a new year is always exciting and filled with mixed emotions of the things to come. The New Year offers a new chapter of our lives as well as new challenges to conquer. As 2013 begins, we contemplate the past year and make resolutions to improve the new one ahead. Here at Limelight Imaging we have conjured up some new goals and ideas while hibernating in the cooler months and now that we’re rested up from the exhausting holidays, it’s time to take on 2013!

First, our coverage of the local music scene in “The Live Music Capitol of the World,” Austin, Texas, has been off to a slow start this month due to the holidays but now most bands are getting back on the bus and we’re gearing up for a full calendar. As we shoot our images and write our reviews for our regular contributions to All Access and InSite Austin magazines, you will find us sharing these awesome experiences with you here as we post links and stories on our new blog, “Covering the Limelight”. Follow us on our weekly adventures, as you just might also find posts unique to only our blog.

Keep in mind, music is only a part of our photographic interests. This past weekend we had a fun and very successful engagement shoot with the beautiful bride-to-be, Rachel Stubblefield, and her lucky groom, James Levi Powers (this cat acted in the local favorite series “Friday Night Lights”). The shoot took place on the grounds of Mayfield Park and Laguna Gloria Museum.

Recently, we’ve been dusting off our home site, www.limelightimaging.com, making a few well needed adjustments. We’re adding images from some of our recent shoots as well as this nifty blog, which we plan to update weekly with our latest ventures, thoughts, and dreams, as well as upcoming shows we plan to cover. We also plan to include samples of work we produce for commercial clients we have the privilege of working with.

Another project on our plate this year is the publishing of a coffee table style photo book showcasing our images of The Backyard at Bee Caves music venue and its predecessor, the original Backyard, which first opened its doors in the spring of 1993.

We hope you are as excited about this new venture as we are. Stay tuned and thank you for taking time to enjoy this journey with us!

Rock and Roll Royalty Rocks ACL-Live

On Wednesday, January 2, 2013 Austin’s ACL Live at the Moody Theater was privileged to play host to one of Rock’s legendary performers, Gregg Allman.

As a founding member of the Allman Brothers Band, the now 65 year old Allman has been touring for as long as most can remember. He is now touring in support of his seventh solo album, Low Country Blues. This is his first album in 13 years.

Allman, backed by a band of talented young musicians, played some of his most well-known songs as well as many Allman Brothers classics including “Statesboro Blues,” “Wasted Words,” “Melissa,” and “Midnight Rider.” Allman was joined on stage by his son, Devon, who played guitar on “Dreams.” The audience really appreciated a gorgeous rendition of Jackson Browne’s “These Days” performed by Allman accompanying himself on the acoustic.

Allman proved to the audience he still has what it takes to make it in the world of rock and roll with some great powerful performances of “Whipping Post” and “One Way Out.” It was great to see that this legend is still going strong.
